Is Journalism Really That Interesting?

Journalism is a job that makes journalists always have a desire to 'find out something new.’ If you want to be a journalist, you must have a high curiosity characteristic. Because that is the main key to being a journalist. A journalist's jobs are to collect news, report an event (reporting), write news stories, edit news scripts, and present news (publishing/broadcasting) through print media or electronic media.

Journalism is one of the jobs that I found interesting because for me personally, it’s because my dad used to be a journalist when I was 4 years old, but not for long. And he told me that when he became a journalist, he gained a lot of knowledge because like it or not he had to gather a lot of information from the news that he had never heard before. He became more knowledgeable about everything, and he also once owned a magazine company. Once, I used to go with him to deliver magazines to neighbors' houses. I think it is very engaging if we can add a lot of knowledge from interviewing people to gathering information. Although sometimes when interviewing people my father said it didn't always go smoothly, for example, the people he interviewed didn’t provide the information that he need and when he wants to interview people in the field, sometimes he has to get deal with heavy rain, voices that are too noisy, etc. Yea, every job has its advantages and disadvantages.

Moreover, by studying journalism, we can improve our writing skills and we can upgrade our skills in interviews too. Actually, writing is not that easy, it requires extraordinary sincerity, we must pay attention to the structure and we have to write according to the news sources that we have got, for example, we must convey in written form what we get from the people we interviewed. We must write news that is actual and reliable. So that people who can read our news feel satisfied, and can spread it widely (such as on social media) and people will read it a lot. Hence, the news that we write can provide knowledge and even new perspectives for those who read it. Isn't that very interesting, right?
